The River To River Festival is an annual performing arts festival with events held from June through July in Lower Manhattan, NYC. The festival's programming includes free music, dance, film, arts, and play events open to the public.
Along with original partners the Alliance for Downtown New York and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the festival was conceived as a way to revitalize Lower Manhattan after 9/11. Over the past ten years it has become a cultural institution, drawing over 100,000 people each year to venues in Lower Manhattan..[1] It has hosted top musicians including Animal Collective, Spoon, Camera Obscura, The Avett Brothers, Ruben Studdard, and Bela Fleck. The 2011 schedule “Made In New York” focused many of their programs on iconic New York artists and institutions: From Patti Smith and Laurie Anderson to STREB, Jules Feiffer, the TriBattery Pops Tom Goodkind Conductor and an Evening At The Bottom Line.
