The Poor School

The Poor School and Workhouse Theatre is a drama school situated in King's Cross, London, England.[1]

It was created in 1986 by Paul Caister, in response to the need for a first class acting training which was financially within the reach of all or almost all. The training lasts two years (six terms) and operates in the evenings and at weekends, until the final two terms, when daytime work is involved.[2]

Entrance to the school is by audition. The majority of students are in their early twenties, but places have been offered to many older people. Thirty-nine students are accepted each October.
