Hannah, a fifteen year old, has been living along with her mother on Shelter Island for the past three year, ever since her parents separated. Her life seems pretty simple until she encounters a young boy around her age in her room, who calls himself a vampire. He however seems harmless enough, and looks rather pensive and pained. She later finds out that he's been hiding in her room from another kind of vampire, one that feeds on other vampires instead of animals and humans, and needs her blood so that he can gain strength to escape it in order to survive. The reason he could hide in her particular house is because it was earlier a foster home which he was a part of. Will she help him escape? The last part of this short story lets us know that his name is Dylan Ward, a character from the Blue Blood series.
A short story by Kelley Armstrong based in the Darkest Powers universe. This story follows a non-series character, named Katiana or Kat. She on the run with Marguerite, a foster mother who is a vampire, from vampire hunters. She later learns that they are not vampire hunters but actually part of the Edison Group. Kat has lived with Marguerine for eleven years. Kat is a supernatural just not a vampire. Kat begins the story not knowing what kind of supernatural she it. She hopes she is a were-cat of some sort because of here deep love of cats. The story starts with Kat and Marguerite making an escape while vampire hunters surround where they are staying, possibly waiting for daylight even though Marguerite is not effected by sunlight.[1] This is just the beginning of Kat's story. She is also featured in the story Hunting Kat which is part of the anthology Kisses from Hell.
