The Earth Diet is a lifestyle designed by actress and former beauty queen Liana Werner-Gray.[1][2] Although the original purpose of the lifestyle is to focus on the abundance of what the earth provides naturally, word of the diet spread and quickly gained popularity as a means to lose weight and reduce exposure to unwanted chemicals.[3][4]

Liana Werner-Gray’s idea of eating only foods naturally provided by the earth began in Australia, following her Miss Earth Australia 2009 People’s Choice win.[5] She pursued the idea of eating only foods that the earth naturally provided for 365 days [6]. Werner-Gray started a daily online blog to share her journey with the world. She began the diet on Saturday, October 24, 2009 [7]
