The Damning Well was a rock supergroup comprising Wes Borland of Limp Bizkit on guitar, Danny Lohner formerly of Nine Inch Nails on bass, Richard Patrick of Filter on vocals, and Josh Freese of A Perfect Circle, on drums. The group has only released one song, "Awakening", on the Underworld movie soundtrack in 2003, even though an album's worth of material was apparently recorded with producer Terry Date. Supposedly Amy Lee of Evanescence also contributed vocals to certain songs but ultimately her record label would not allow those to be released.
Borland, Freese, and Lohner also created another band, Black Light Burns. It is often considered to be a spiritual successor to The Damning Well and contains bits and pieces of their work. Additionally, some work is thought to have been carried on into Filter's 2008 release Anthems for the Damned, especially the song "In Dreams", in which credit for the song is shared by both Richard Patrick and Wes Borland. Also, the guitar playing style in the song and the effects used are close-sounding to songs from Black Light Burns's "Cruel Melody" (especially "Coward" and "4 Walls")
In an interview with Richard Patrick in July 2010, he said, while he hasn't talked to the members in years, he's still considering doing an album with The Damning Well.[1]
