The Break is an alternative rock band from Park Ridge, Illinois. The band consists of four members: Paul Ansani (bass/vocals), Sean Cahill-Lemme (vocals/guitar), Matt Gieser (drums), and Miles Malin (guitar/vocals). Bassist Paul Ansani is the son of Ted Ansani of Material Issue.

Welcome To Ourside

The Break released their first album, Welcome to Ourside, in August 2008 at Ambush Recordings in Winnetka, Illinois. The tracks "Be Human" and "Can't Be Right" have received modest airplay from college radio stations in Chicago. Support for this album led them to open for touring acts such as Cute is What We Aim For, Electric Six, Down with Webster, Smoosh, Hawthorne Heights, and The Hudson Branch at shows around the Chicagoland area.

Pickwick Music Festival

In Summer 2009, the Break was the subject of a feature story in the Park Ridge Herald. In the interview, the Break expressed interest in performing a show at the local Pickwick Theatre in Park Ridge. On December 4, 2009, the Break hosted the Pickwick Music Festival, renting out the theatre and selling tickets to the local community. In promotion for this concert, the Break was featured in the Chicago Sun-Times and on WGN Local News. With the concert's completion, the band had earned six thousand dollars, all of which was donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Cold Elbows EP and Future Work

The Break is in the process of recording their new EP, revealed online to be called Cold Elbows EP. It is rumored that the first single will be titled "Nebula."
