Templemore, Clonmore and Killea (Catholic Parish)

Templemore, Clonmore and Killea is an ecclesiastical parish that is part of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Cashel and Emly.[1] The parish includes the town of Templemore and the nearby villages of Clonmore and Killea in North Tipperary, Ireland.[2] Churches in the parish are:

  • The Church of the Sacred Heart, Templemore
  • St. Anne's Church, Clonmore
  • St. James' Church, Killea

Religious institutions

Convent of the Sisters of Mercy, Church Avenue, Templemore. The sisters are no longer active in the teaching profession in the town. In the previous century, they provided a primary school (for girls) and a secondary school (for girls) both for day pupils and boarders.

Christians Brothers community. The brothers are no longer active in the teaching profession in the town. Their monastery has been turned over to the parish for use as a Community Care Centre. In the previous century, they provided a primary school (for boys) and a secondary school (for boys) on a day pupil only basis.

The two secondary schools were merged in 1986 and now operate as Our Lady's Secondary School, Templemore.

Sport

J.K. Brackens GAA is the parish's Gaelic Athletic Association club.
