Transport

Recently the railway line of Shimoga-Talguppa railway line was upgraded to Board gauge from meter gauge. The broad gauge conversion was was done under the project Project Unigauge, from Birur to the Talguppa. [1]

Before the gauge was converted from narrow gauge to broad gauge, Talaguppa was the last narrow gauge railway station towards Jog falls.

The metre gauge railway track between the town of Shimoga and Talaguppa was laid by the British way back in 1938. In 1939, Mirza Ismail took the maiden journey on this line to visit the city of Sagara. This rail link provided access to Jog Falls, which is just 12 km from the village of Thalaguppa. Famous personalities like Nalvadi Krishnaraja Wodeyar, Jayachamarajendra Wodeyar, Sir M Visvesvaraya, Lal Bahadur Shastri and Morarji Desai used this line to reach the spectacular Jog Falls.

There is a proposal to connect Talguppa with Honnavar in Uttara Kannada district by a new railway line, which will be a shorter alternate rail route between Mumbai and southern India.

KSRTC and Private Bus services are also available.

After the broad gauge conversion, Indian railways has introduced a daily train in between Mysore city to Talguppa, Mysore - Talguppa Intercity express. [2] File:Talaguppa1.png
