Wachseldorn is a municipality in the administrative district of Thun in the canton of Bern in Switzerland.
Wachseldorn has an area of 3.5 km2 (1.4 sq mi). Of this area, 71.2% is used for agricultural purposes, while 23.7% is forested. The rest of the land, (5.1%) is settled.[3]
Wachseldorn has a population (as of 31 December 2010) of 228.[1] As of 2007[update], 1.3% of the population was made up of foreign nationals. Over the last 10 years the population has decreased at a rate of -15.5%. All of the population (as of 2000[update]) speaks German.
In the 2007 election the most popular party was the SVP which received 78.8% of the vote. The next three most popular parties were the CSP (6.5%), the SPS (4.5%) and the FDP (4.3%).
The age distribution of the population (as of 2000[update]) is children and teenagers (0–19 years old) make up 25.3% of the population, while adults (20–64 years old) make up 56.9% and seniors (over 64 years old) make up 17.8%. In Wachseldorn about 54.2% of the population (between age 25-64) have completed either non-mandatory upper secondary education or additional higher education (either university or a Fachhochschule).
