Sykamino (Greek: Συκάμινο meaning mulberry) is a town and former community of Attica, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Oropos, of which it is a municipal unit.[1]
Sykamino is a northern suburb of Athens. It is located in the extreme northwestern part of East Attica Prefecture. Rooads link Sykamino to Chalkoutsi, Oropos and Oinofyta. Sykamino has farmlands in almost the entire area while some parts represent urban housing. Sykamino is located east of Thiva and south of Chalkida. Agriculture is the most popular industry in Sykamino, businesses dominate the village area. The municipal unit has a land area of 15.643 km² and a 2001 census population of 1,522 inhabitants. Besides the town of Sykámino (pop. 865), other villages in the municipal unit are Néo Sykámino (pop. 270), Pefkiás (205), Kamári (104), and Katifóri (78).
