Sven Ole Fagernæs (born 12 March 1945) is a Norwegian jurist and civil servant.
He was born in Oslo, and was hired in the Norwegian Ministry of Justice and the Police in 1973. From 1976 he worked in the Office of the Attorney General of Norway. He has been the Attorney General since 1994, except for a period from 1998 to 2001 when he was acting permanent under-secretary of state in the Ministry of Justice.[1] He was also acting governor of Svalbard in 2005. He was preceded by Odd Olsen Ingerø and was succeeded by Per Sefland.[2]
He has a relationship with Kirsti Coward.[3]
