Suryavamsam(Telugu: సూర్య వంశం) (1998) is a Telugu film remake of the Kollywood film Suryavamsam directed by Bhimaneni Srinivasa Rao. The film stars Venkatesh, Meena and Raadhika in the lead roles. The film was remade into Bollywood as Sooryavansham. Sooryavansham starred actor Amitabh Bachan and Soundarya. The film's score and soundtrack are composed by S. A. Rajkumar.[1] This story is also remaked in in Kannada as "Surya Vamsha" with Vishnuvardhan and Isha Koppikar in leading roles.

Plot

Venkatesh played dual role (Father and Son) in this film. venkatesh (Father) is one of the most respected, most educated and among the wealthiest men in his district. He is respected by one and all, however his only black mark is his son -Venkatesh(Son) who is considered a dunce owing to his poor academic history. Venkatesh(son) once loved and adored Sanghavi who was his wife to be until she attempted suicide to prevent this union (as venkatesh was a dunce). To prevent any misunderstandings venkatesh (son) declared that he was not interested in sanghavi (Gowri) and earned his father's wrath.

When Meena arrives for her brother's wedding to Venkatesh's sistershe is moved by vekatesh's deep love and falls in love with him. Meena and Venkatesh marry and enrage both sets of their parents however with Hard work Venkatesh gradually becomes one of the biggest businessmen in town and among its wealthiest citizens- making Venkatesh (father) proud of him. When the enemity of Anand Raj threatens to create a rift, father and son solve it and the family is happily united.[2]
