Student Robotics is a volunteer based organisation that runs an annual robotics competition for 16-18 year-olds [1][2].
The group was founded at the University of Southampton in 2006, and is still primarily run by students from the University of Southampton[3] today. Students at the University of Bristol[4] and Grenoble INP[5] joined the project in 2010. The project is funded through sponsorship.

The competition is held every year in April. Participating teams are introduced to the competition, as well as given their kit at a "KickStart" event at the beginning of the academic year in October. The competition rules mandate that the robots are autonomous, rather than remote controlled.
The group develops a "robotics kit" to aid teams through the competition[6]. The current revision of the kit uses a BeagleBoard as its central controller. The kit includes a webcam, as well as software to process the imagery from it for use in the robot control software.
