Steven Sykes, born 5 August 1984 in Middelburg, South Africa, is a rugby union player for Leinster with whom he signed a three year deal to play in the RaboDirect Pro12 and the Heineken Cup starting in the 2011/12 season. He plays as a lock. He is 6'6" (1.98m) tall and weighs 114 kg. Sykes began his career with the Natal Sharks in 2005 and later the Sharks Super rugby team in 2007, with whom he played in the Super 14 competition until signing for Leinster. He has been a part of the Emerging Springboks team and played for them during their 13-13 draw against the British and Irish Lions on their 2009 tour to South Africa.
