As of 2010, the editor is John Atkinson, who joined the magazine in May 1986. Stereophile is published in New York by Source Interlink Media, publisher of numerous hunting, fishing, boating, action sports, and on and off-road vehicle magazines.

Notable features include their annual "Records to Die For" section, where each editor and writer calls out two outstanding albums of the year.
