Stephan Ackermann

Stephan Ackermann (Mayen 1963) was appointed Bishop of Trier (or Treves) in the Moselle area of Germany in 2009.

Biography

He had previously served with the title of Sozopolis in Haemimonto as auxiliary bishop in the same diocese from 2006. Ackermann was educated at secondary school level in Andernach. He has studied at the Gregoriana in Rome and at the Jesuit-run Sankt Georgen faculty in Frankfurt.

The French newspaper La Croix describes Ackermann as a vigorous spokesman for the Catholic Church in Germany.[1]
