Stemodia is a genus of flowering plants in the plantain family, Plantaginaceae. The roughly 20 species it contains are commonly known as twintips. They are found across the tropical Americas and into the subtropics. These perennials have toothed leaves and racemes of colorful flowers which are usually a shade of purple. This genus is sometimes placed in the families Scrophulariaceae or Gratiolaceae.[1] The generic name is derived from the Latin word stemodiacra, which means "stamens with two tips."[2]
