Sportspark

UEA Sportspark is a multi-purpose sports facility situated on the campus of the University of East Anglia, which is part of the Norwich Research Park, in the city of Norwich in the English county of Norfolk. The facility was opened in February 2001 by Princess Anne and was funded by a Sport England lottery grant.

Sportspark funds itself thanks to the 1.4 million customers that use and visit it every year. It receives no money from the University of East Anglia or any other government funding. Projects such as the new Gymnastics Centre or the three new 7-a-side 3G Football Pitches have been paid with monies that Sportspark has made.

Facilities at the Sportspark include an Bernard Matthews Olympic sized Swimming Pool which can function as two 25-metre swimming pools with movable floors. Other provision includes a Fitness Centre, 10 metre high Climbing Wall called 'The Peak', five glass backed Squash Courts and 5 halls, which can be used for several different sports. Outside there is an eight lane Athletics Track, two 11-a-side AstroTurf Hockey/Football pitches, which can operate as 6 7-a-side football pitches, four 5-a-side 3G football pitches, three 7-a-side 3G pitched and six tarmacadam Tennis Courts, which can operate as 4 Netball Courts. An Olympic Gymnastics Centre has been built and was opened in September, 2011.
