South Hayward is a Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) station located near Tennyson Road in the southern part of Hayward. The station consists of two side platforms. The station serves the less ritzy industrial part of hayward. In addition BART's Hayward train yard is a ways south of this station and is where bart launches many trains for its Daly city to fremont, Dublin/pleasanton, richmond-fremont and daly city trains. If you look out the window while traveling between south hayward and union city bart stations you will see idle bart trains as well as some rare replacement train parts like new outer-front A car BART train shells.
Service at this station began on September 11, 1972.[1]
