Soni

Soni (Hindi: सोनी, Punjabi: ਸੋਣੀ) is a Suryavanshi Khatri family surname originating from the Punjab region of the Indian Subcontinent. The Sonis belong to the kshatriya varna (the princely military order in Vedic society).

Soni along with the Chopra, Dhawan, Batta, Bandha, Kakar, Mahindru, Sahgal, Tandon, Vohra, Wadhaun, and Wahi form the Barah-Ghar group of Khatris.

Soni is a khatri punjabi gotra. Soni is also among BrahmaKshatriya Khatri.
