Solitaire/Unraveling
"Solitaire Unraveling" is a song by American alternative metal/industrial metal band Mushroomhead and the lead single from their major label debut XX in 2001. Their debut single, it is perhaps Mushroomhead's most well known song and is the only track off XX to have a music video. It was also released earlier on the band's self-released M3; however, the XX version is better known. It was also featured on the Ozzfest 2002 Summer Sampler. "Solitaire Unraveling" is a signature song of Mushroomhead's live setlist and was well received during their stint on Ozzfest in 2002.
Music video
Directed by Dean Karr, the "Solitaire Unraveling" video is set in a Southern California airplane hangar and features the band in specially designed masks. According to J Mann, the song "acts as a metaphor for the cycles of life and the duality of man." Drummer and founder Skinny adds "It's very much us: dark, creepy, surreal." It found moderate airplay on Uranium and MTV2.
