Chahed was born in Berlin, West Germany to Tunisian parents, and consequently he holds dual German-Tunisian nationality.[1]
Chahed made his professional debut for Hertha BSC in 2003, and was released at the end of the 2009 season.[2][3] Chahed signed for Hannover 96 on 18 August 2009.[4]
Chahed represented Germany at youth level, participating at the 2003 FIFA World Youth Championship. Because he had never made a senior appearance for Germany, Chahed remained eligible for the Tunisian national side, and was called up by them for a training camp on 1 September 2009.[5][6] Chahed was called up again on 1 October 2009 for a World Cup qualification match against Kenya, and a friendly match against Saudi Arabia.
Chahed made his national debut for Tunisia on 11 October 2009.[7]
