Slush Puppie is a slush beverage marketed by Slush Puppie, which is a division of The ICEE Company, and through its Slush Puppie Distributors in the U.S. Slush Puppie was acquired by ICEE on May 30, 2006.
A Slush Puppie has two major components; the base and the flavoring. The base is made from a special syrup that is mixed with water and then frozen. This creates a mixture resulting in pellets of ice in a sweet liquid. The taste is simply that of the flavored syrup.

Flavors include Grape, Cherry, Watermelon, Lemon-Lime, Strawberry, Strawberry-Kiwi, Strawberry-Banana, Blue Raspberry, Piña Colada, Bubble Gum, Shocker (a sour flavor), Tropical Bahama Mama, Cherry Cola, Blue Vanilla, Apple, Cola and Orange Frenzy.
Three new flavors have been recently added: Mixed Berry, Sour Apple, and Sour Lemon. Many other flavors are often made by mixing two or more different flavors. A "suicide" slush puppie is a mixture of every flavor, while a "ghost" slush puppie has no flavoring at all. At some locations, "shockers" can be added to give extra sour flavour.
Most of these flavors are also available as flavored bases. Instead of requiring the "base" commonly referred to as neutral base (no flavor), these bases require only water to be frozen and made into a slushie.
Slush Puppies are usually available at gas stations, corner stores, little league snack bars, City Recreation Centers (Pools, Ice Rinks, Stadiums) and cinemas. Machines can also be bought for home use.
Slush Puppie and Slurpee are often used as synonymous terms. However, they are two separate products each with differing characteristics.
The original owners, Will Radcliff and his sister Phyllis, came up with the name while sitting on their front porch in Cincinnati, Ohio. The unique spelling of PUPPIE was added to bring attention to both the name and the product. The business started from a home address in Cincinnati and progressed to a single door small warehouse, to a manufacturing plant/warehouse, to a candy & tobacco distributor to finally a showplace building that overlooks the city of Cincinnati. The business has been under the ownership of Will Radcliff, Cadbury Schweppes and currently, The ICEE Company.[1]
SLUSH PUPPiE is a subsidiary of The ICEE Company a subsidiary of J & J Snack foods. SLUSH PUPPiE was founded in 1970. It started with only four flavors Cherry, Grape, Orange, and Lemon Lime. SLUSH PUPPiE has grown to over 25 flavors.
