"Sleep Like Breathing" is vocalist Alison Moyet's third single of 1987 and the final single from the album Raindancing. The single features Moyet with David Freeman, notably the only duet that Moyet has recorded for her solo career studio recordings to date.[1]

The song was written by David Freeman and Joseph Hughes. Freeman was guitarist for the Punk band The Flys and half of the New Wave duo The Lover Speaks with Hughes. The writing pair wrote and originally performed the Annie Lennox hit single "No More I Love You's". Hughes was the former bassist for The Flys.[2]

The single failed to enter the UK top 40, peaking at #80 for a total of three weeks, the first single of Moyet's to fail the top 50 at the time. Moyet's previous single "Ordinary Girl" only peaked at #43 in the UK.[3]

A promotional video was created for the single but no TV performances exist, resulting in the poor charting.

The b-side for the single "Love Resurrection (Live)" was exclusive to the single, a live version of Moyet's hit debut single from 1984.

The 12" single featured two more live songs from Moyet, "Ne Me Quitte Pas" and "Don't Burn Down The Bridge". All three live tracks were recorded and mixed at Wembley Arena on 13 May 1987.[4] "Don't Burn Down The Bridge" was originally the b-side to Moyet's 1985 single "That Ole Devil Called Love".
