Skudenes is a former municipality of the traditional district of Haugaland in Rogaland county, Norway.
The parish of Skudesnæs was established as a municipality January 1, 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt).
In 1849 the district of Bukken (Bokn) with 1,035 inhabitants was separated from Skudenes to form a municipality of its own. The split left Skudenes with a population of 5,044.
On February 12, 1858 the town of Skudeneshavn with 1,209 inhabitants was separated from Skudenes, constituting a municipality of its own. The split left Skudenes with a population of 5,044. On January 1, 1892 the same thing took place with the town of Åkra with 1,962 inhabitants, which left Skudenes with a population of 2,732.
On January 1, 1965 Skudenes was merged with Avaldsnes, Kopervik, Skudeneshavn, Stangaland, Torvastad and Åkra to form the new municipality of Karmøy.
By January 2009, Skudenes had 3,226 inhabitants, including the populations of Breidablikk/ Hålandshøgda/ Vågen-Varden/ Falnes/ Hillesland/ Hovdastad/ Snørteland.
