Skjerstad is a former municipality in the county of Nordland, Norway.
Skjerstad was established as a municipality January 1, 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt). Fauske was separated from Skjerstad January 1, 1905. The rest of Skjersted was merged with Bodø on January 1, 2005.
The municipality had 1,080 inhabitants January 1, 2002[update].
It is possibly the place of execution of Raud den Rame[1] by Olaf Tryggvason, and the location of the annual historical hoax play called "Ragnhilds Drøm" (Ragnhild's Dream).[2]
