Skinburness

Skinburness is a village in the Allerdale district of Cumbria, it forms a residential area for the town of Silloth, and is about 10 miles west of Wigton.

Before the harbours at Port Carlisle and Silloth were built, it was an important anchorage for ships and was used as a base by King Edward I during his war against the Scots.[1]
