Sivagiri is a panchayat town in Erode district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.

Sivagiri is located at [1]. It has an average elevation of 199 metres (653 ft).
It has the highest elevation peak (from sea level) among all other places in this region.
It is located 25 km (16 mi) to the south of Erode City, 35 km (22 mi) to the north-west of Karur town, 40 km (25 mi) to the west of Namakkal town and 45 km (28 mi) to the east of Tirupur City.
It is also 10 km (6.2 mi) to the west of Kodumudi. The Cauvery River takes a deep twist in its whole flow, from the south towards the east, about 10 km (6.2 mi) to the west of Kodumudi.
As of 2001[update] India census[2], Sivagiri had a population of 22,285. Males constituted 51% of the population and females 49%. Sivagiri has an average literacy rate of 65%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 75%, and female literacy is 55%. In Sivagiri, 9% of the population is under 6 years of age.
Sivagiri (Siva + Giri) has got its name, from a mountain peak 2000 years earlier, where Lord Shiva has a Temple at the hill found here. It is now found at the Ground level on-with Sunai Parai(Olden hill), at the centre of the town. Currently the major town concentrates at the Maada (CAR) streets of this temple.
There is a temple devoted for Sri Velayudha Swami (Lord Muruga), which is found with South India's third largest Temple Car. The Temple Car festival is grandly celebrated during chittirai pournami.
And at the corner of the junction place of North and West Car street, the Kamatchi Amman Temple is situated, which is worshipped as the Kula Deivam of Weavers, especially for Senguntha Mudaliyars.
Also, the Pon Kali Amman is worshipped as the Kula-Deivam for Gounders (for kurai kulam and velaiyan kulam kongu Vellala Gounders). Starting with the Lord wearing the flower chain from Pon Kali Ammam temple, as festival on painkkuni matham.
It is within the town limit, 1.5 kilometres (0.9 mi) from sri Aamrthavali ambal samatha sri Nageshwara Temple lord Eshwara.

As the town is found at the centre of Erode, Karur and Tirupur, which are all well-developed textile cities, this area is also engaged with textiles.
The major hub of the town is engaged with modern power looms and air loom production, and export through Karur. Some of the places are found with concentrated olden hand looms, and most of the families were engaged in this producing bedsheets and carpets through the co-operative societies.
There are a vast number of co-operative weavers for textile production & sales societies functioning in this town and surrounding areas, such as Amman Kovil, Thandampalayam areas, which are now found as the suburb of Sivagiri, and distribute through Erode. Mostly, these small-scale industries will get more traffic in case of any government schemes (during Pongal issue of free clothes) and during any natural calamities.
And also outside of the Town limit, there numerous knit mills, spinning mills and processing mills, which export through Tirupur.
As the town is found in footprints of River Cauvery, which is known as the Ganges of the South, it is agriculturally well-developed and looks more greenish in appearance with fertilized cultivable lands, all the year, as ever-green.
Sivagiri is considered the hub of agricultural activities around this area, so all the business and shops that run in Sivagiri depends on the agriculture and textile materials. People are engaged in many different professions. Notable among them are agriculture, weaving, and mechanical workshops. There is no road, water and sewage facilities to the village Mettankattu valasu, which is the village located in sivagiri panjayat.

Sivagiri is well connected with Erode and Karur through frequent fleet of city busses. And also there are town busses from the town connecting with the neighboring towns such as Vellakoil, Kodumudi, Chennimalai, Perundurai, Kangeyam, Paramathi Velur, etc.
And also there are Mofussil busses going to Tirupur, Palani, Dharapuram, Coimbatore, Oddan Chatram, Dindigul, Gobi, Namakkal, etc.
