Simone Battle
Simone Battle (born June 17, 1989) is an American actress and singer from Los Angeles, California. She is best known for being on The X Factor. She was mentored by Simon Cowell and made through to the live shows but was eliminated on the first night by her mentor Simon Cowell finishing in the top 17. She was the only contestant that released a music video after being eliminated.[1]
Early life
Battle was born June 17, 1989 in Los Angeles, California where she currently resides. A diva who blew away the judges with her performance. She’s already had a taste of the limelight, joining a local competition as a young girl and even appearing on shows like Everybody Hates Chris and Zoey 101. She was later seen in commercials for Target and Bratz Dolls. Looking for a wider audience, she made it to The X Factor and was chosen by Simon Cowell to become part of the Top 17 contestants. Battle attended Belmont High School. After graduating from high school she took a year off college to focus on her music career being and intern for The Black Eyed Peas and Will.i.am. She attended college at Loyola Marymount University and transferred off to USC where she is currently a student at.
Music career
2011: The X Factor (U.S.)
Battle auditioned for the first season of the talent show The X Factor in front of judges Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, Cheryl Cole and L.A. Reid in 2011, singing the song "When I Grow Up" by Pussycat Dolls. Battle stated in her audition that her first album would be called Honey, Work. She also described her sound and style by saying "If a Cheerleader, a Hipster, and a Drag Queen had a Threesome, I would be their love child." She was mentored by Cowell after becoming one of the Top 32 finalists in the girls category. she performed "Help!" by The Beatles in the judges' house, in front of her mentor Cowell. She was chosen to be apart live shows along with Melanie Amaro, Rachel Crow, Drew, and Tiah Tolliver. She made it to the Top 17 but was eliminated from the girls category during the first week by her mentor Cowell along with contestant Tiah Tolliver. Upon Steve Jones' announcement that she had been eliminated from the competition, Battle plugged the online release of her new music video "He Likes Boys".
