Silverton ST27-ST29

Silverton ST27-ST29 are diesel locomotives owned by South Australian Railways.

All built for Narrow gauge on Silvertons Broken Hill to Cockburn line. With the opening of the Standard Gauge the Silverton operations were relegated to shunting in Broken Hill and thus sold ST27 to the South Australian Railways as a 830 class. ST28 and ST29 were converted to Standard gauge. These two locomotives worked the shunting operations in Broken Hill for the local mines as the only locomotives until the purchase of ex-government locomotives in the form 442 and 48/830 class locomotives.
