Silleda is a municipality in the Spanish province of Galicia in Pontevedra and capital of the same.

The villa is located in the N-525 road that connects Ourense with Santiago de Compostela, and 40 km from the capital of Santiago. It has also access to the highway between Santiago de Compostela and Ourense.
Candida Sierra, the mountains of Chamor, San Sebastian de Meda, and the rivers Ulla and Deza define the limits of the municipality of Silleda within the province of Pontevedra. It borders the municipalities of Villa de Cruces to the north and east, Lalin to the east and south, and The Estrada and Forcarei to the west.
Its 169 km² is divided into 33 parish with many different appellations, but worth mentioning St. Martin, patron of five parishes, San Miguel and Santa Maria, San Salvador with four and three.
Silleda Parishes The municipality is composed of 33 parishes: Abades (Santa María), Ansemil (San Pedro), Breixa (Santiago),Carboeiro (Santa María), Castro (San Mamed), Cerbaña (San Salvador), Chapa (San Ciprián), Cira (Santa Eulalia), Cortegada (Santa María), Dornelas (San Martín), Escuadro (San Salvador), Fiestras (San Martín), Graba (Santa María), Lamela (San Miguel), Laro (San Salvador), Manduas (San Tirso), Margaride (San Félix), Martixe (San Cristóbal), Moalde (San Mamed),Negreiros (San Martín), Oleiros (San Miguel), Parada (Santo Tomé), Pazos (San Martín), Piñeiro (San Julián), Ponte (San Miguel), Refoxos (San Pelayo), Rellas (San Martín), Saidres (San Juan), Siador (San Miguel), Silleda (Santa María), Taboada (Santiago), Villar (San Martín) y Xestoso (Santa María).
Famous for its cattle and agricultural fairs, with maximum expression at the international level, during the Semana Verde de Galicia. International Fair that takes place at the exhibition created for it, which owns the street covered (roofed) Europe's largest.
It is a town in continuous growth, especially since the creation of its industrial estate on the outskirts and the ring road.
Silleda Township has many people, being Bandeira (Party of the Pie) one of the most representative.
In addition, the town has many cultural artistic area (Monastery Carboeiro, Romanesque) and high natural value (Fervenzas do Toxa, one of the tallest waterfalls in Spain).
Most of their parishes displayed as part of the jurisdiction of Trasdeza, in the seventeenth century, which belonged to the province of Santiago. In this jurisdiction were twenty-five of the current parishes belonged to other Jurisdictions Cira, Carboeiro and Camanzo, the Stop, by parish, to the jurisdiction of Deza and that of the Coto de Acibeiro ReFox.
The name of Trasdeza appears already mentioned in the High Middle Ages and the parish of Santa Maria de Cortegada in Trasdeza, contained in documents.
In the seventeenth century referred to the vicariate of the archdeaconry Trasdeza as a dependent of Deza, of the Diocese of Lugo. Trasdeza appears, therefore, as a church name designates that in 1645 the vicariate of the name.
