Shrivastava

Shrivastava is a common surname in northern India. The name is predominantly found in the Kayastha clan of Indo-Aryan peoples.[1] Spelling variations include Shreevastava, Shrivastav, Shrivastava, Srivastav, Srivastava and Srivastwa.

According to one theory, the name "Shrivastava" originates from "Shrivastu", the former name of the Swat River, said to be the place of origin of this clan.[2]
