ShoBox: The New Generation is a boxing television program, on Showtime. Debuting in 2001, it focuses mainly on up-and-coming boxing prospects. This program, which is a spin-off of its sister boxing program, Showtime Championship Boxing, usually televises live at 11 p.m. ET/PT on selected Fridays. The show features Curt Menefee on blow-by-blow with Steve Farhood and Antonio Tarver as the expert analysts. Menefee and Tarver joined the broadcast team in 2010, with Menefee taking over for Nick Charles (who was suffering from bladder cancer that would ultimately claim his life in June 2011) and Tarver joining as a second color commentator.
Due to its fine matchmaking, ShoBox is generally seen by boxing fans and experts as a step up for a prospect. A phrased coined "ShoBox fighter", meaning a quality prospect primed for tougher competition, has origins from the show.
