Shlomo Lahat

Maj. Gen. Shlomo "Chich" Lahat (Hebrew: שלמה להט‎; born November 9, 1927 in Berlin) is a former Israeli general and politician.

Lahat was born in Germany and made Aliyah in 1933. He served in the Haganah and the Israel Defense Forces. In the IDF, he eventually became the head of the Manpower Directorate and served in that capacity until 1973.[1]

In February 1974, he became the eighth mayor of Tel Aviv, continuing his tenure until November 1993. He was elected mayor as a member of the Likud.[1]
