Tel Shikmona (Hebrew: תל שִׁקְמוֹנָה) is an ancient tell (mound) situated near the sea coast on the southern entrance to the modern city of Haifa, Israel.
Archaeological excavations that took place at this location in 1963, uncovered the remains of a city that existed there between the 11th - 14th BCE and was intermittently inhabited during the Byzantine period.
The Israeli National Institute of Oceanography is situated at Shikmona.
Shikmona was declared a 1677-dunam nature reserve in 2008. A small area (73 dunams) was declared a national park, as well.[1]
