Sharon Tregenza (born Sharon Rosewall in Penzance, Cornwall on 14 June 1951) is a British author of children's books, stories and verse. Tregenza's work, famous for its quirky wit has been published and broadcast worldwide.
In her early thirties she left Cornwall to live in Cyprus, where her writing career began. She then moved to Dubai and Sharjah where she wrote stories and fact columns for the Khaleej Times children's magazine Young Times before returning to the United Kingdom in 1996 to study at the University of Bristol. She later completed her MA in Creative Writing at the University of Wales. She is a member of The Society of Authors, SCBWI and CBI.
Tregenza’s children inherited her creativity and she has a daughter, Natasha Greig, who is a photographer while her son Ross Tregenza is a musician.
She now lives, with her husband, on the Pembrokeshire border in a beautiful medieval watermill complete with lake and ducks.
In August 2008, Sharon won Floris Books' Kelpies Prize 2008 Award at the Edinburgh Book Festival. As a result, the book she submitted, Tarantula Tide, about young sleuths on Shetland, was published by Floris, on 16 October 2008.[1]
