Shahibaug

Shahibaug is a locality of the city of Ahmedabad, where amongst other colonial and Mughal-era monuments stands the Moti Shahi Mahal. It is also famous for Hathisingh na Dera. It also has the Ahmedabad Cantonment. This area is famous for its Camp Hanuman Temple and also for one of the most visited temples of Ahmedabad, Gayatri Mandir the home to the Gayatri Parivar. It is situated outside the walled city or the old city of Ahmedabad. It also houses the office of Police Commissioner of Ahmedabad. There is some society that are called "Payas Flats , Khetan Tower, Avtar Flat, Shahi Shivam Flats, Sujata Flats, Girdharnagar Society,Nandanbaug Society,Divyang Park Society, Vijay Flats and Meera Park and more."

Shahibaug is also very close to Ahmadabad International Airport and the Ahmedabad Railway station Kalupur.

Rajasthan Hospital situated in this area is one of the main hospitals of Ahmedabad. The "Farki" outlet of shahibaug is famous for its Lassi. The Civil hospital of ahmedabad city is also located near shahibaug.

Shahibaug also served as home to may famous people , including Ravindranath Tagore , Sardar Patel,Behchar Lashkari and Bhagavatprasad Ranchoddas Family.

Shahibaug, was considered to be the repository of riches in Ahmedabad- and this is obvious from the fact the virtually all the mill owners used to live here. Sadly, as the city grew bigger the 'aristocracy' of Ahmedabad has moved out of Shahibag and chosen to relocate in other plush areas of the city.but now also rich businessmen such as owner of anil mill,mr priyesh shah,mr mahesh patel owner of asiad group of industries and such others have established their mansions in shahibaugh.

It is connected to Vadaj area by Subhas bridge over River Sabarmati. In 2010 a new flyover was built which now connects the 'tran khunia bagicha' directly to the Ahmedabad cantonment area.

Shahibag also includes the Gujarat circuit house which hosts most of the government guests to the city.
