Expanded history

Ted and Doris Isaacson launched Servpro in 1967 as a painting business in Sacramento, California. With a background in cleaning and restoration, Ted and Doris changed the direction of the company, becoming a franchisor of cleanup and restoration services.

After selling their first franchise in 1969 Servpro acquired the Bristol-Myers Domesticare Division and its 175 Franchises in 1979. Servpro relocated their corporate headquarters from Sacramento to Gallatin, Tenn., in 1988, placing itself within 600 miles (970 km) of 50 percent of the U.S. population. At the time of the relocation, the Servpro system consisted of 647 Franchises.

In 1991 the Nashville Business Journal named Servpro the Small Business of the Year. The company sold its 1,000th Franchise in 2000. In 2005, Servpro moved to a 106,000-square-foot (9,800 m2), facility in Gallatin to provide more room for expansion.

More than 1,500 franchises are in operation nationwide, and Servpro continues to grow despite a difficult economic climate.

Every year since 2004, Servpro has been ranked #1 in the Restoration Services category by Entrepreneur Magazine.

In 2009, Dunn and Bradstreet ranked Servpro #9 in the Best Franchise Opportunity for all categories of franchises.

Training facility

Servpro holds classes in its training facility constantly. The training facility has three classrooms that seat 50 students each. With computers for hands-on software training and audio/visual aids, the classrooms are fully equipped.

The training center also has two furnished, full-size residential structures. The indoor house puts Servpro franchise professionals to the test month after month, honing their professional cleanup and restoration skills in fire and soot damage. The 1,200-square-foot (110 m2) ASD (Applied Structural Drying) house, located adjacent to the corporate facility, allows Servpro to teach a hands-on ASD certification course, one of only nine approved ASD schools in the country.

In 2008 the internal training department received the Golden Torch Award for Innovation in Practice (Franchise Training).

HERO commercials

In 2007, Servpro began running a series of TV commercials [1] produced by Bent Image Lab[2] of Oregon. They are also known for their distinctive Green Vans.
