Sergei Nikolaevich Martynov (Russian: Сергей Николаевич Мартынов) is the current Minister for Foreign Affairs of Belarus[1] appointed in March 2003. He was born on February 22, 1953 in Gyumri, Armenian SSR.
Martynov graduated from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations, summa cum laude, in 1975. He previously served in diplomatic representation of Belarus in the USA and as the ambassador in Washington, D.C. between 1993 and 1997. He also served as an ambassador to Belgium, EU and NATO between 2001 and 2003 before he was appointed foreign minister.
He is fluent in Russian, English, French and Swahili languages.
