The Serbia Open (Serbian: Отворено првенство Србије, Otvoreno prvenstvo Srbije) is an ATP World Tour 250 series men's tennis tournament held in Belgrade, Serbia. It is currently played on outdoor clay courts. The event was held for the first time in 2009, from May 4–10.[1] It is a first for Serbia, as the country never before hosted an Association of Tennis Professionals or a Women's Tennis Association tournament.
The tournament is hosted by top Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic. His family purchased the ATP Tour date from the organizers of the Dutch Open, paid for the plot of land where the venue was built, and convinced the Serbian government to support the event. His uncle Goran is tournament director.[2] Djokovic has won the tournament twice, and is the reigning champion.
