Sela pri Šmarju is a small village in the Grosuplje municipality in central Slovenia. It lies between Grosuplje and Šmarje-Sap in the historical region of Lower Carniola. The municipality is now included in the Central Slovenia statistical region.[2]

The local church is dedicated to Saints Hermagoras and Fortunatus and belongs to the Šmarje-Sap parish. It is first mentioned in written documents dating to 1444 and was restyled in the Baroque in the second half of the 18th century.[3]
