Secret Mountain Fort Awesome is an American animated television series created by Peter Browngardt (storyboard artist on Chowder) and produced at Cartoon Network Studios for Cartoon Network. The show was developed from the idea of a portal unleashing monsters on the world, which was used in the Cartoonstitute short "Uncle Grandpa", and was announced on April 21, 2010.[1] Cartoon Network at its Upfront announced the series would air July 18, 2011. However, the series premiere had been pushed back one week to September 26, 2011. The series is rated TV-PG. A sneak peek was shown on August 1, 2011. Starting November 4, 2011, new episodes air Fridays at 5:30/4:30 Central.[2] As of January 6, 2012, new episodes will begin airing at 4:30/3:30 Central.
