Sea Trek 2001 was a 2001 project sponsored by the Sea Trek Foundation to commemorate the exodus of members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) from Europe during the 19th century.
Eight sailing ships were rented (Statsraad Lehmkuhl, Christian Radich, Sorlandet, Europa, Swan fan Makkum, Antigua, Mir, Dar Mlodziez) from many countries and sailed from Germany, Denmark, Sweden and Norway to England. An identical statue was donated to a number of port cities visited during the project.[1] Three ships (Statsraas Lehmkuhl, Chirstian Radich and Europa) sailed on to the Canary Islands, Bermuda then New York.
The aftermath was many unpaid bill and badwill since the ships and many small companies never got paid (fireworks, sound equipment, etc.).[2] The organizer (William "Bill" K Sadleir) has never taken the responsibility and the LDS Church said it had never been their project.
