The Scranton School for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Children is a specialized school located in Scranton, Pennsylvania serving students from Northeast and Central Pennsylvania, USA. Formerly administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, the Scranton State School for the Deaf was closed at the end of the 2008-2009 school year.[2] All rights to administer the school were transferred to the Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf.[3]
At the commencement of the 2009-2010 school year, the name of the program responsible for administering deaf education in Northeast Pennsylvania was changed to The Scranton School for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Children — a Program of the Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf.
