Scottish Widows Investment Partnership (SWIP) is one of the UK's largest asset management companies, with £136.4 billion[1] of funds under management. These funds are invested across all major asset classes – including UK and overseas equities, property, bonds and cash.
SWIP was created in 2000 following the merger of two well-established asset management companies, Scottish Widows Investment Management and Hill Samuel Asset Management. SWIP came into being under the leadership of Orie Dudley, although he resigned after just six months moved to Northern Trust. He was replaced by Sandy Nairn, formerly Head of Global Equity Research at Templeton. SWIP has quickly become one of the UK’s largest and most dynamic asset management companies, with a presence across the globe.
SWIP manages life assurance, pension and investment funds for Scottish Widows and its parent company, Lloyds Banking Group. In addition, SWIP promotes a range of mutual funds to private investors. SWIP also manages a diverse range of specialist funds for a range of clients, including large pension schemes, charities and local government.
SWIP employs over 100 investment professionals, all of whom research the market to find opportunities which will add value for investors.
