Scawby is a village and civil parish in North Lincolnshire, England. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 2,277. It is located 3 miles (4.8 km)south west of Brigg just off the A15 and A18. Scawby Brook, just outside Brigg, is also within the parish.
The church of St Hybald is dedicated to a 7th century Saxon of that name. There is an old school building next to the church, a village pump and a telephone box. The village also has a post office and village shop, a primary school, The Sutton Arms public house, a fish and chip shop and a newsagent.
Scawby Mill was opened about 1829 but the present tower was built as part of a house after the original tower collapsed during renovation work in 1994.
The village is noted for the Nelthorpe family who owned the manor and lived at Scawby Hall.[1] Sir John Nelthorpe founded Brigg Grammar School in 1669.
