Sasha Siem

Sasha Siem (born 14 March 1984) is a British composer and singer-songwriter.

Musical Life

Siem has recently composed music for the London Symphony Orchestra,[1] Le Nouvel Ensemble Moderne, The London Sinfonietta, The Aldeburgh Festival,[2] Opera North, Caius Choir Cambridge, [3] The Rambert Dance Company [4] The Royal Opera House and London Philharmonic Orchestra.[5]

Siem has also participated in a range of collaborations with pop/rock/electro artists and has performed her songs at festivals and venues across Europe and America, including the Royal Opera House.

Born in London in 1984, Siem was educated at Cambridge University where she graduated with a double starred first, and subsequently at Harvard University [6] where she earned her PhD in music. She has also been a visiting scholar at Columbia University.

Her work has garnered a British Composer Award, [7] The Arthur Bliss Prize [8] and the Royal Philharmonic Society Composition Prize. [9]
