Sandton is a South African lifestyle magazine that was launched in 2008. It is marketed towards the residents of Sandton, an exclusive Johannesburg suburb. The official tag line of the magazine is The Good Life in the Great North. The magazine follows the established 'city magazine' genre. The magazine is published by Media Nova (Pty) Ltd.[1]

In popular culture

Shortly after the launch of the magazine, it was the subject of a parody by South African satire website Hayibo. The headline of the article that was also published by Sandton magazine, comically read 'Sandton magazine hailed as just what rich whites need'. Hayibo made reference to the requirement of two wealthy young white people on the cover “to help frightened Sandtonians forget about Alexandra township next door”.

Ultimately, security and material items are cited as the solution to any problem in the country “We want to remind people that there is no problem this country can throw at you that you can’t solve with electric fencing and a pedicure.” [2]
