Sandra L. "Sandy" Pappas (born June 15, 1949) is a Minnesota politician and a member of the Minnesota Senate who represents District 65, which includes portions of the city of Saint Paul in Ramsey County, which is in the Twin Cities metropolitan area. First elected in 1990, she was re-elected in 1992, 1996, 2000, 2002, 2006 and 2010. Prior to her service in the senate, she was a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives, representing District 65B from 1985 to 1991. She ran an unsuccessful campaign for mayor of Saint Paul against incumbent Norm Coleman in 1997.[1]

A Democrat, Pappas currently serves on the Senate's Capital Investment, Commerce and Consumer Protection, and Higher Education committees. She was chair of the Higher Education Committee from 2007 to 2011, and chair of the Education Committee from 2001 to 2003. She served as the Senate's President pro tempore from 2003 to 2007.[1][2]
