Sandiway

Sandiway is a village in the civil parish of Cuddington, Cheshire, England. It lies to the east of and is contiguous with the village of Cuddington.

Sandiway was the birthplace of John Douglas who designed many of the buildings in the centre of Chester, many buildings for the Dukes of Westminster and a number of churches in Cheshire. St John's Church, Sandiway, and its lychgate were designed by Douglas and both are Grade II listed buildings.[1][2]

Sandiway Golf Club has been used as final qualifying for The Open golf championship and is a regular venue for regional amateur finals.[3]

Sandiway is also the home to Blakemere Craft Centre a recipe of relaxed and unique shopping set in and around a beautiful Edwardian stable block and cobbled courtyard, home to numerous craft shops offering gifts galore, beautifully handcrafted either on site or around the world. Blakemere Craft Centre also has a large indoor and outdoor childrens play area. Special events such as the Water Balls appear at Blakemere on a regular basis.

Sandiway has the major cross-roads where the A49 crosses over the A556 at the Shell service station. The Jones Homes Grange Estate was completed 6 years ago and has provided 2,3 & 4 bedroom houses in the area. Plans to extend the estate are currently in the pipeline for an additional 140 homes.
